Acupressure & Acupuncture

Acupressure is an ancient Chinese treatment that was derived from acupuncture.  The practitioner uses their fingers and thumbs to apply pressure along the body's energy pathways, called meridians, in order to direct the flow of Chi , which is the life force energy of the body.  Acupressure is used to balance this energy which can alleviate pain and tension within the body.

Jin Shin Do, which means "the way of the compassionate spirit",  is a form of acupressure that was developed by a psychotherapist named Iona Marsha Teeguarden.  The purpose of Jin Shin Do is to balance the flow of energy in the body/mind connection in order to release negative emotions, such as anxiety, frustration, anger, guilt, and depression.  The therapy is derived from a mix of Japanese acupressure techniques, Chinese acupressure theory, Reichian segment theory, Taoist philosophy, and Qigong exercises.
